Nizamabad:Students under the banner of Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) besieged the Collectorate in the town on Wednesday in protest against the indifferent attitude of the State government in solving their problems. They were demanding the construction of permanent hostel buildings and providing basic amenities in the hostel.

When the students tried to barge into the Colelctorate, the police prevented them and this led to an altercation between them. Speaking to the media, PDSU leader Suman lashed out at the TRS government for going back on its promises that it made during the 2014 elections. The students were not at all benefited after the formation of Telangana State, he lamented.

Suman said that the mess charges given by the government were not at all sufficient as there has been a steep hike in the prices of essential commodities.

The mess charges should be hiked for Rs 1,040 to Rs 2,500and new buildings should be constructed immediately, he demanded. He said that permanent ANMs should be appointed in girls’ hostels.

The PDSU threatened that they would intensify their agitation if the government remains indifferent to their problems. They were arrested by the police and shifted to the Four-Town police station.
