Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) has decided to support the agitation for separate district of Jangaon.
At a press conference after a seminar on ‘Telangana State-Development Model-Role of TJAC’, JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said the government should take representations from people from scheduled areas on mandals, divisions and districts.

He said there was a strong agitation going on in Jangaon for separate district. The JAC would support their struggle. The government should take the views of all sections into consideration before taking a final decision, he said. Kodandaram said the JAC would tour districts to take the opinion of people on zonal system, employment issues and would present a detailed report to the government.

The JAC leader said real development would take place only when the living standards of the people improve and employment opportunities increase.

He also demanded a detailed discussion on the zonal system in employment. Kodandaram also demanded that the government make public a detailed project report of the reengineered projects.

He said reengineering should be done on the Palamur lift irrigation project and Godavari waters should be utilised completely. He said the JAC would organise a meeting on the redesigned projects on river Krishna in Mahbubnagar town.

The JAC also demanded that the government discuss the drought situation in the State in the ensuing Assembly session. “Why isn’t the State government giving money to farmers even after the Centre had released the funds? The government should come to the rescue of the drought hit farmers,” the JAC chairman said.
