Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council convened a special session on August 30 to ratify the Constitution Amendment Bill for Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday introduced the GST Bill in the Assembly and was later approved by the House unanimously. Speaking on the same, the Chief Minister had earlier reasoned out the need for the Bill to be ratified before being passed by Lok Sabha at the Centre. KCR added that Telangana state is quite forward as per the percentage of growth suggested by the Bill and urged the House to pass the Bill.

Welcoming the move, BJP leader Kishan Reddy thanked KCR and said that the GST Bill is well appreciated all over the country and would certainly find a prominent place in India's economic system. He also added that with the implementation of the Bill, there is no scope of corruption in the implementation of taxes.
