While other districts in the State received copius rains, the Mahbubnagar district received only 24 mm rainfall in the last three months. Only three mandals - Gadwal, Kodangal and Addakal - have received higher rainfall of 102.2mm, 91.6 mm and 84 mm respectively.

Mahbubnagar: While other districts in the State received copius rains, the Mahbubnagar district received only 24 mm rainfall in the last three months. Only three mandals - Gadwal, Kodangal and Addakal - have received higher rainfall of 102.2mm, 91.6 mm and 84 mm respectively.

According to Met Department, the total rainfall in all the 64 mandals was recorded as 1,532.8 mm with Gadwal receiving the highest rainfall of 102.2 mm in the last three months. Overall, the district has seen a deficit of 21 per cent rainfall in August when compared to same period of corresponding year.

In fact, the normal rainfall for the month of August was 89.1 mm, but the district has received only 28.4 mm between August 1 and 24, which indicates 60.7 mm deficit. However, in the last one week district received 31.8 mm rainfall.

Though the district had begun on a promising note, it gradually failed to meet the expectations of farming community and now due to inadequate rains, not only the agriculture but also the prestigious Haritha Haram programme is moving at a snail’s pace.
