Hyderabad: It is after two years that Telangana has a normal monsoon. With the sudden spurt of rainfall on Wednesday, the dry spell that the city experienced from August 7 was ended bringing relief to citizens. As on date, Telangana has a deficit rainfall of minus six per cent which is considered normal and by September more rains are expected and at present AP has above normal monsoon by 8 per cent.

State Met Office director YK Reddy said on Wednesday that the weather changed from August 24 and attributed the heavy downpour to wind convergence from Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. An upper air circulation over the central bay and adjoining north coastal AP extending to 3.1 km above mean sea level persists and is likely to move in the north westerly direction and under its influence both States are likely to receive more rainfall in the coming days.

Most of the districts in Telangana have received normal rainfall barring Medak which has a deficit of -30, Hyderabad -15, Nizamabad -12 and Mahbubnagar -15. In 2014, the State had a deficit of -34 rainfall and in 2015, -20. In coastal AP, in the year 2014, there was a deficit rainfall to the extent of -23 per cent.
