Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U Durga Prasad Rao on Tuesday adjourned by a week further consideration of legality of GO Ms 123 and the action of the government in acquiring lands for the Mallannasagar and other irrigation projects.

This, however, was not before a battery of advocates including senior advocates Vedula Venkata Ramana, A Satyaprasad and L Ravichander and other advocates Rachna and Arjun, had voiced serious concern at the manner in which the State was proceeding with forcibly acquiring lands from the farmers.

Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan made it clear that at this stage it was a case of allegations and counter allegations and until the matter was heard, the court would not be in a position to pass an interim order. “In so far as those who have approached the court, we have already safeguarded their interests,” Justice Ramesh Ranganathan said.
