Warangal: With the dawning of environmental awareness among people across the country, including Warangal, eco-friendly Ganesh has replaced the plaster of paris-made Ganesh. The youth of the city have stirred up their creativity in preparing Ganesh idols in various forms.

Youth of Karimabad in the city, toiled hard for a month and prepared a nine-foot tall Ganesh idol using one rupee and five rupees coins. Members of Ganesh Utsav Samiti said that the youth used coins worth Rs 18,000 to prepare the idol.

Members of Vighneshwara Youth Association begged to differ. They used 1,000 tea cups to make Ganesh idol. The Geeta Bhavan here roped in the services of artistes from Odisha and got a Ganesh idol prepared using betel nuts.

The artistes used two tonnes of betel nuts in making the idol. Orugallu Gajanana Mandali members got a Ganesh idol in the style of conducting an orchestra. The carrier of elephant-headed God – mussa mama (the mouse) – has been depicted as keyboard and guitar player.

The Ramalingeswara Swamy temple here got an 11-headed Ganesh idol installed for the occasion. The devotees are competing with each other to have a darshan of Lord Ganesha in different ‘avatars’.
