Gajwel: Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao has declared that dryer with a cost of Rs 1.5 crore would be installed in Gajwel market yard, so that farmers could dry their produce and store for a longer time to get a better price.

He inaugurated two godowns with a capacity of 2,500 metric tonnes costing Rs 17.5 crore, a rest house for farmers, a meeting hall, covered shed and CC roads at Gajwel market yard on Friday. Addressing the gathering, he blamed the previous governments for neglecting the district and said that the State government was committed to provide uninterrupted power supply, supply of fertilisers and pesticides and providing storage facilities in market yards.

He also rubbished the Opposition’s charges about families of farmers who had committed suicides not getting compensation, by disclosing that the State government had spent Rs 5.56 crore to compensate 93 affected families in the district since the formation of Telangana.

He added that the Marketing ministry had spent Rs 40 crore to create modern infrastructure for the benefit of farmers in Gajwel alone in the past couple of years.
