Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is contemplating to reduce monthly swimming pool charges from Rs 500 to Rs 250.

Corporation officials claim that citizens have been opting for the GHMC swimming pools even though there are several private swimming pools across the city.

The GHMC has been maintaining seven swimming pools across the city. Of them, swimming pools at Vijayanagar Colony, Sanathnagar and Amberpet are indoor and pools at Secunderabad, Ameerpet, Chandulal Baradari and Moghulpura are outdoor. The corporation has been charging Rs 500 to use the pools from 6am to 9 am and 5pm to 7pm.

The officials claim that the average turnout per day for each pool would be between 500 and 800. In Secunderabad pool, about 1,000 persons use the pool on daily basis during the summer camps.

However, the official said the turnout has been very low during the remaining days. In order to increase the number of users, the corporation is planning to reduce the monthly charges from Rs 500 to Rs 250.
