The streets and roads of tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet filled with processions of Ganesh idols being taken for immersion after the nine-day Ganesh Navratri celebrations. Devotees raising slogans and hailing Lord Ganesh and dancing to drum beats added colour to immersion processions. The GWMC Mayor, N Narender, formally inaugurated the idol immersion at Chinna Waddepalli with special prayers. The city Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu flagged off immersion at Padmakshi gundam in Hanamkonda.

Ganesh idols on specially designed vehicles slowly moved towards their assigned locations. 10 locations were marked for immersion by the GWMC. The immersion was expected to go on post mid-night hours in view of large number of idols in the city.

A total of 3,070 Ganesh idols would be immersed in the tanks. For the first time, the city police were engaging scores of rowdy sheeters to look after bandobast, along with about 1,300 policemen, 300 NCC cadets and officials.

16 cranes were deployed at the immersion points and flood lighting was arranged for the convenience of the devotees. Tight security was made while dog squad and bomb squad teams inspected the locations before the commencement of idol immersion.

Organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad distributed prasadam and drinking water to devotees.

Meanwhile, a Muslim called Mohammed Yakub Pasha of Kapuwada in the city has distributed ‘Pulihora’ and water near Padmakshi Temple to the devotees and artists, who accompanied the idol processions.
