Nalgonda: TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar requested the Opposition leaders to abstain from creating hurdles to the irrigation projects taken up by the government to turn Telangana as Bangaru Telangana.Speaking at a media conference at the TRS office here on Friday, Karne Prabhakar said that the government has taken up irrigation projects, including Mallanna Sagar to solve the irrigation problems in the State. But, the Opposition leaders wantonly trying to create hurdles to the project by provoking the people, he alleged.

Coming down heavily on Congress leaders, he said they were trying to create obstacles in the way of the projects fearing they would lose their identity in the State if the projects are completed. He criticised that the earlier Congress government had failed to complete single irrigation project and turned Jalayagnam into ‘big corruption’.During the YSR government, PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy cooperated with the construction of Pulichinthala project, which has submerged 14 villages in Nalgonda district and not provided irrigation facility to even one acre of land in Telangana.

Assuring that the State government was ready to pay compensation to the oustees of the projects as per GO No 123 or Land Acquisition Act, he reiterated that the government was extending best relief and rehabilitation package to those, who lost lands due to irrigation projects.

Making it clear that it was not possible to construct any project without submerging of lands, the TRS MLC asked the Opposition leaders not to hinder the development. If the Congress leaders fail to change their attitude, they would remain as anti-development elements in the history, he cautioned.TRS district president Banda Narender Reddy and others were also present.
