Nalgonda: The political parties and people’s unions have celebrated Telangana Liberation Day across the district on Saturday. The TRS district president Banda Narender Reddy hoisted national flag at the party office. Speaking on the occasion, Narender Reddy said that erstwhile Hyderabad State was liberated from Nizam rule with the police action of Indian Army on September 17. Nalgonda district was also played a crucial role in Telangana armed struggle.Telangana Liberation day was celebrated at TDP district office in Nalgonda. The TDP district president Bilya Naik unfurled the national flag at the party office as part of the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilya Naik said that thousands of people from Nalgonda district had sacrificed their lives during Telangana armed struggle. He underlined the need to remember martyrs of Telangana armed struggle on the occasion of Telangana Liberation Day.

He charged the State government with insulting Telangana armed struggle martyrs by not conducting Telangana Liberation Day officially.The CPI (M) leaders felicitated those persons, who participated in Telangana armed struggle, at a programme in Doddi Komuraiah Bhavan in Nalgonda.

The members of CPI (ML-New Democracy) staged a protest demonstration at Subhash statue near RTC bus stand terming September 17 as Telangana Deception Day.Speaking on the occasion, CPI (ML-New Democracy) leader Palasa Yadagiri said that grave injustice was meted out to Telangana on September 17. Hence, people should celebrate September 17 as Telangana Deception Day every year by staging protest demonstrations.

The BJP district president Sankineni Venkateswar Rao hoisted national flag at party district office and participated in Telangana Liberation day celebrations. Police made tight security arrangements at the police headquarters to avert any effort of the protesting groups to barge into the premises of police parade ground to hoist national flag. Additional forces were deployed at two gates of the police headquarters.
