Vijayawada: Stating that the Machilipatnam Port has vast growth potential, Anil Yendluri, Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Krishnapatnam port, a flagship project of the Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (NECL) felt that the port would grow fast as the land-locked Telangana with prospects of exporting pharma, granite and the other manufacturing products would have to depend on the former for shipping.

The (NECL) is prepared to take up the Machilipatnam port project works soon after the government completes land acquisition process.

Anil said the company was awarded the port project in 2009 and it failed to inch ahead since then for a variety of reasons, which include protests from land losers.

Anil favoured an integrated approach in building the port project with linkages to road, rail and airports so as to ensure the viability of the port.
