Siddipet: Poor and middle class residents who have been living on their properties for decades without having property rights have finally been given rights over their property in Siddipet.

About 4,031 beneficiaries identified through GO 59, who had built houses on government land to an extent of 7009 square yards in Siddipet mandal were given ‘pattas’ by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao at a programme organised by revenue officials at Shivams gardens in Siddipet on Monday.

The move came as a relief to land owners who got their lands regularised without any involvement of middlemen in the process. Addressing the gathering, Harish Rao said that the programme was to instill confidence among people that revenue officials were sincere about registering properties without demanding bribe. He asked the revenue officials to complete registering properties of land holders whose lands have not yet been regularised as per GO 59.

He also revealed that Rs 30 crore was sanctioned for Mission Bhageeratha works in Siddipet town and distributed cheques worth Rs 6.81 lakh to 206 beneficiaries whose houses had collapsed due to rains.

He asked the people of Siddipet to arrange a grand welcome for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who is expected to come to Siddipet on Dasara festival.
