Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday reiterated that Mallannasagar project would be constructed at any cost and would provide all succor to the farmers giving away their lands.

At a programme held here, the Irrigation Minister alleged that the Congress moved the High Court and misguiding the farmers and people on the issue. He said those who moved court against the land acquisition came forward to withdraw voluntarily their pleas and give away their lands for the reservoir, he maintained, criticising that the Congress and Telugu Desam were crying foul over the projects.

"The State government is committed to provide better compensation through GO 123," he said, adding that people of nine villages have come forward to part with their lands. "Landless will get help through GO 190. Landless SCs and STs will get Rs 7.50 lakh towards one time settlement. The government also decided to give Rs 3,000 to SCs and Rs 2,000 allowance to others," he added.

Harish suggested the opposition parties to desist from creating hurdles in the way of projects. The previous governments, which failed to complete the projects, were now shamelessly obstructing the same during the TRS regime. Despite their baseless allegations, we are determined to complete the projects, the Minister maintained.
