Jangaon (Warangal): The creation of new districts was leading to hatred among people of different parts in the State, said Prof M Kodandaram, Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman. He objected bringing out GOs to adapt The Andhra Pradesh District (Formation) Rules 1984 and The Andhra Pradesh District (Formation) Act 1974 to Telangana state.

Instead of adapting the above act and rules, which meant to serve the needs of Andhra rulers, Telangana government should have brought out a comprehensive Act to suite the State’s needs prior to creating the new districts, he felt. Due to lack of such an exercise and acting in a hurried way without applying mind in creating new districts, the affected public were doubting the government’s intentions and taking on to roads. He addressed a massive gathering at Jangama Jana Garjana organised by Jangaon Zilla Sadhana JAC on Tuesday.

Kodandaram felt that there was no need to stick to deadlines like Dasara in announcing the new district. “If not Dasara, it could be done on next Ugadi. What is the need to haste?” he said. The opinions of all stakeholders have to be taken into consideration, he said.

The meeting was addressed by leaders of different political parties and people’s organisations.
Former MLC Ch Ramaiah, Jangaon MLA M Yadagiri Reddy of TRS, Rapolu Ananda Bhasker, N Rajender Reddy of Congress, CPM floor leader in Assembly Sunnam Rajaiah, Aziz Pasha, Ch Raji Reddy of CPI, M Dharma Rao, K Pratap Reddy, M Satyanarayana Reddy of BJP, G Satyanarayana Rao, Seetakka of TDP, POW leader Sandhya, OU JAC leader Bala Lakshmi and others have attended the meeting.

The leaders who addressed the gathering wondered why the State government was creating new districts like Hanamkonda which none wanted while denying creation of Jangaon for which public were protesting since last September. The MLA addressing the meeting, said, he along with MLAs T Rajaiah and E Dayakar Rao and other legislators supported the demand and submitted written letters. But some were trying to create hurdles even as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao once agreed creating Jangaon district. Jangaon JAC chairman A Dashmanth Reddy, leaders R Ratnakar Reddy and M Raju also spoke while noted singer A Somanna stirred up the crowds with his songs.
