Hyderabad: Justice MS Ramachandra Rao of the High Court at Hyderabad directed the Speaker of the Telangana Assembly to dispose of within a period of three months the pending complaints with regard to the alleged ‘floor crossing’ by TDP members.

The writ petitioner TDP MLA and Floor Leader A Revanth Reddy had challenged the bulletin issued on March 10, 2016 by the Telangana State Legislature Secretariat merging Telangana TDLP with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Legislature Party in Telangana Legislative Assembly.

The petitioner complained that he had sought the disqualifications of MLAs E Dayakar Rao, Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, G Sayanna, T Prakash Goud, Teegala Krishna Reddy, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, K P Vivekananda, Challa Dharma Reddy, S Rajender Reddy, Maganti Gopinath and Arekapudi Gandhi that were pending before the Speaker.

He pointed out that the Speaker who was also Chairman of the Tribunal under Schedule X has jurisdiction to decide the issue of disqualification, but not the merger of a political party independently as per the scheme of Constitution. The judge made the interim order in the said writ petition.
