Hyderabad: The South Central Railway released its golden jubilee logo at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Saturday.

Addressing the media, SCR General Manager Ravindra Gupta said SCR which came into existence on October 2 1966 attained a magnificent moment of completing 50 years this October. The SCR proposes to hold several programmes to mark the occasion, he said.

The golden jubilee logo of SCR predominantly carries the years of service in gold signifying the valuable relationship built with the rail users over the years.

The iconic Sir Alec Steam Engine which stands prominently in front of Rail Nilayam, SCR’s headquarters at Secunderabad is etched in the centre to symbolise the proud heritage of the zone.

The six stars, markedly visible in the centre, represent the six vibrant Divisions of SCR namely Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded which play a vital role in shaping the destiny of the zone.

The General Manager said several drives were taken up as part of Swachh Bharat initiative. Under anti-littering drive, a total of 3,764 persons were penalised and a fine to the tune of Rs 7.51 lakh was collected.

In order to ensure proper segregation of garbage at stations, about 783 dustbins were also additionally provided at platforms of various major stations.

A total of 2,308 water samples from various points were taken and tested for residual chlorine. In total, 64 samples are found not meeting the norms and corrective action was taken to improve the quality of water, he added.

AK Gupta, Addl General Manager, N Madhusudhana Rao, Chief Operations Manager, P Ganeswara Rao, Chief Commercial Manager, Solan Gupta, Chief Electrical Engineer, NV Ramana Reddy, Chief Personnel Officer and other officials were present.
