The grand event ‘Saddula Bathukamma’ is celebrated on the last day of the celebrations. Warangal: With the season of ‘Bathukamma’, the festival of flowers beginning the women and girls are all gearing up to celebrate the event.Bathukamma celebrations would begin on Friday, which coincides with Bhadrapada Amavasya as per Telugu calendar. The festival celebrated for nine days is considered as a symbol cultural distinctiveness of Telangana State.

The grand event ‘Saddula Bathukamma’ is celebrated on the last day of the celebrations. Women of all age groups dress-up in their best attire and collect flowers and arrange them in a brass plate to celebrate the festival of flowers and for the nine days gather around at temples and street corners.

Mostly flowers like Cassia (thangedu), nelumbo (thamara) cucurbita (gummadi), luffa (bera), celosia (gunugu), marigold (banthi), crossandra (kanakambaram), ixora (ramabanam), hibiscus (mandhara) and others are used to decorate Bathukamma.

The district administration has made arrangements for the festival to be celebrated across the tri cities. 19 locations were identified for celebrating the event. Thousand Pillar Temple, Padmakshi Temple and Badrakali Temple are decked up for the purpose.

DRO K Shobha asked the officials to clear the grounds, arrange lights and sound systems.On Thursday, the students of primary and higher sections along with their teachers joined ‘Bathukamma’ celebrations at Daffodils High School in Hanamkonda.

While at Pingle Government College for Women, students and faculty members conducted a special programme.At Mahabubabad, students celebrated ‘Bathukamma’ at Maharshi Vidyalayam on the day.
