New Delhi: Telangana Minister K T Rama Rao here on Thursday appealed to the Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu to direct the South Central Railway not to impose "Traffic Block Charges" on the Hyderabad Metro.

In a memorandum to the Union Minister here, Rama Rao said the charges were waived last year following a request from the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. However, the charges were re-imposed again this year due to which certain works like the Road Over Bridges were being held up.

Hyderabad Metro was the world's largest metro work and almost 70 per cent of the work had been completed in the last four years. Metro projects should not be stalled over such unresolved issues in the larger public interest, KTR has said.

KTR also met the Union Minister for Steel, Chowdary Birender Singh, and later Union Minster of Urban Development, M Venkaiah Naidu, and sought their help for securing all pending funds to the State.
