Public distribution system rice seized
Kodad Circle Inspector (Rural) Madhusudhan said the accused procured the PDS rice from locals at Rs seven per kg. The rice was reprocessed in a local rice mill to make it fine rice and selling the rice to a trader in Kakinada at Rs 25 Â per kg.Several persons were involved in the illegal processing and transportation of PDS
Nalgonda: The Kodad police on Friday seized 9.5 tonnes of rice meant for the public distribution system (PDS) at Kuchipudi village while the ‘illegal consignment’ was allegedly being smuggled to other district.Acting on credible information, a police team intercepted a lorry carrying bags containing PDS rice. The police also arrested Miryala Nageshwar Rao, Miryala Narsimha Rao, lorry driver and cleaner in this connection.
