KCR’s nod for 4 more districts Asifabad, Sircilla, Jangaon & Gadwal in the new list

​Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has finally consented to the demand of creating Asifabad, Sircilla, Jangaon and Gadwal districts in addition to 17 new districts proposed in the draft notification issued recently by the government.

A high-power committee headed by senior leader K Keshav Rao has been asked to submit a feasibility report in three days. The Chief Minister said that each district will have a population of three lakh families.

This would ensure effective administration and good governance at people’s doorsteps. He asserted that smaller districts would help to root out socio- economic disparities and would help in optimum utilisation of resources.

KCR proposed to name Sircilla as Rajanna district and the new Kothagudem district would be named as Bhadradri Kothagudem. The Vikarabad district, which would be carved out of Ranga Reddy, would not be changed as was expected earlier.

MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on Monday urging him to retain the name of Vikarabad for the new district being formed with Vikarabad, Tandur, Parigi and Chevella assembly segments.

The proposal to create six new mandals – Alloapalli, Karakagudem, Chenchupalli, Laxmidevampalli, Sujatha Nagar and Annapureddy in Khammam districts was cleared during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to post junior IAS and IPS officials working in Secretariat and other departments as Collectors and SPs of the new districts. It was also decided that the one senior IAS and IPS officer would be appointed as in-charges for every three districts to monitor the administration of new districts.

The 2010 batch IAS officials – Harichandana Dasari (GHMC Additional Commissioner), Preethi Meena (Director, Textiles and Handlooms), 2011 batch official Sweta Mohanty (Project Director, Outer Ring Road) and 2012 batch officials – D Krishna Bhaskar, Alagu Varsini, R G Hanumanthu and R V Karnan and 2013 batch officials - K Shanshanka, G Srijana, Shruthi Oja and Adwait Kumar Singh are likely to be appointed as Collectors.

Sources said that the junior IPS officials working in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and other police commissionerates would be deployed as SPs. DGP Anurag Sharma has been instructed to send the list of IPS officials to the government.

Special Chief Secretary to Revenue Pradeep Chandra, Special Chief Secretary to Municipal Administration M G Gopal, Panchayat Raj Special Secretary SP Singh, Special Chief Secretary BC Welfare Somesh Kumar and Principal Secretary to Animal Husbandry Suresh Chandra would oversee the functioning of the new districts in coordination with the respective district collectors and SPs.

Sources said that the government was planning to issue final notification of the new districts on October 7 as it is considered to be an auspicious day by Chief Minister. Order to serve notices would be issued to the transferred employees on the same day when the new districts start functioning.
