​Mulug (Warangal): The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao’s consent to create Jangaon district has sparked serious protests here as the locals objected the CM’s negligence towards the demand to create Mulug Sammakka Saralamma district.The ‘Mulug bandh’ called on Tuesday by several tribal organisations and political parties demanding creation of the district with Mulug as its headquarters, was total. Tension prevailed for some time as protestors staged dharna and rasta-roko at Bus Stand Centre on NH-163 at Mulug.

Three youth identified as Nagarapu Ramesh, Emmadi Rakesh and K Prashanth carrying a petrol bottle have climbed a cell phone tower in the town. They threatened to commit suicide demanding a clear assurance by the CM on Sammakka Saralamma district.The local police persuaded them to climb down the tower and later took them into custody. The local Congress activists have staged dharna and performed mock funeral of the Chief Minister.

TDP state general secretary Seetakka has led a rasta-roko on NH 163 for about two hours in support of the demand. As a result large number of vehicles have stranded on the road. The police have dispersed them to clear the road for vehicular traffic.Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Seetakka expressed anger over the CM’s negligence attitude towards Mulug people’s demand.

Mulug having great historical significance and natural resources deserves to be district headquarters. She demanded the local MLA and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal and MP Prof A Seetaram Naik to quit their posts for failing to fulfill the desires of the public. She wanted them to convince the CM to create Mulug district, otherwise they would not be allowed to move in the area.

Mulug Zilla Sadhana Samithi leader M Bikshapathi and others joined the protests. Meanwhile, leaders of different political parties and tribal organisations have planned to stage blockade on all the roads in Govindaraopet mandal, including the NH 163 connecting Warangal-Bhupalpatnam on Wednesday.
