Hyderabad: With Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav letting off eight lakh fish seed into Koilsagar in Mahbubnagar district as part of promoting fish cultivation in the State, the picturesque dam is going to get a big boost in its tourism potential. The Minister, after letting off the fish seed, addressed meeting on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, he said Koilsagar would be developed into a tourist spot with all facilities.
Yadav said the State government had enhanced the budget to Fisheries Department to Rs 101 crore, which was more than 100 per cent being granted by earlier governments. “We want all fishermen organisations, particularly the Gangaputra communities and fisheries cooperative societies to avail all the government benefits. The government is providing 75 per cent subsidy to the fishermen for procuring jeeps, cycles, and nets and other equipments for cage culture facilities.
All fishermen should utilise this and enhance their economic conditions,” said the Minister while addressing the fishermen at Koilsagar in Devarakadra mandal. This year, the State government was planning to release free fish seed across all 19,000 notified Panchayat Raj lakes and ponds across the State and help provide livelihood opportunities to the fishermen community in the State.
On the occasion, he distributed Rs 15 lakh cheque among shepherd families. He said the credit of releasing adequate waters into Koilsagar would go to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government. “The State government is committed to encourage fishermen community in a big way enabling them to flourish through their regular activity,” Yadav said.
The TRS government had succeeded in its efforts to overcome power crisis and supplying nine-hour power to agriculture sector, he said. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had introduced many welfare schemes for the poor, the aged, widows and physically disabled in the last two-and-a-half years, he claimed.
Amid applause from the people, the Minister said the TRS government kept its promise of giving Rs 1,500 pension to physically challenged, Rs 1,000 to the aged and widows.
Unlike the previous governments, the TRS government had come up with fine rice scheme without ceiling, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak to offer financial assistance to perform poor girls’ marriage, the Minister added. Local MLA Ala Venkateshwarlu, Zilla Parishad Chairman Bhandari Bhaskar, Secretary, Animal Husbandry Venkateshwar and others were present.
