Bhadrachalam: MLA Sunnam Rajaiah declared that he would launch an indefinite fast from Thursday demanding creation of Bhadrachalam as a separate district. He asserted here on Wednesday that it was the demand of the people of Bhadradri agency in one voice.

Rajaiah said that to carve out the new district, Vajedu and Venkatapuram mandals should be continued under Bhadrachalam Assembly segment and the four panchayats Etapaka, Kannaigudem, Pichukalapadu and Purushothapatnam - that were transferred to Andhra Pradesh State should be brought back to Bhadrachalam mandal.

The MLA said that even in the all-party meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, a letter had been handed over to him elaborating the demand. A letter to this effect was also posted to districts reorganisation committee chairman K Kesava Rao stating that it was the demand of the people across the party lines as grave injustice, over the decades, had been done to Bhadrachalam, he added.
