Hyderabad: Digital crackers will turn to be a special attraction at the Tank Bund on the ninth day of Bathukamma festival on October 9.
About 10,000 women are expected to gather at the Tank Bund to make it a global event. The GHMC is gearing up to build special Bathukamma ghats at all the water bodies in GHMC limits and hold Saddula Bathukamma at the Tank Bund on the last day of the festivities. Special arrangements will be made to facilitate a mass gathering on October 8 from LB Stadium.
GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan held a meeting with officials of Urban Community Development (UCD) and Tourism Department here on Tuesday to review the works. Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, Tourism Minister Azmeera Chandulal and others participated in the meeting.
The Mayor said that rehearsals would be held for three hours on October 5 and October 6 and about 4,000 women would be trained during the sessions.
He said “the festivities should be conducted on a grander scale than the last year. All important places will be illuminated at important places and traffic junctions with digital crackers and 3-D lighting to suit the occasion”. Basic amenities like drinking water, lighting, security, security, parking, traffic management, etc will be provided by the respective departments and wings.
He said tight security arrangement would be made at the venue to ensure safety of women. He said several food stalls would be set up to promote Telangana cuisine.
While professional artistes would perform the dance forms of Telangana on the specially erected stage, the women on the ground would follow them. He said the GHMC along with Tourism Department would decorate 140 junctions across the city.
On October 9, the venue would be shifted to the Tank Bund which would be decorated with flowers and 3D lighting. In the evening, digital crackers would be a special attraction to the celebrations at Tank Bund on October 9.
He also said there would be a gala show of bursting of fire crackers and laser show would be organised to make the festival a memorable one.
