Hyderabad: A two-judge vacation bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice C Praveen Kumar and Justice T Sunil Chowdary on Thursday refused to interdict the government’s action in issuing a preliminary notification by the Government of Telangana for formation Bhupalapally district in Warangal and Bhadradri district in Khammam by reorganising the revenue divisions and mandals located in scheduled areas in Khammam, Warangal and Adilabad districts.

A mention was made before the bench by the petitioners’ advocates Satya Prasad and Prabhakar Chikkudu. The bench agreed to hear the PILs but refused to interfere with the government’s notification.

The petitioners Adivasi Sankshema Parishad and others contended that the government had no right to reorganise the districts under the 5th Schedule of the Constitution.

They pointed out that the power to reorganise districts was with the Governor only. The bench adjourned the case to after the Dasara vacation.
