The bone of contention is that when Sircilla can be made a new district with just nine mandals, why not the PV district is possible with 11 mandals – Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Kamalapur, Veenavanka, Shankarapatnam, Saidapur, Chiguru Mamidi, Bheemadevarapally, Elkaturthy, Husnabad and Koheda, this is what the local leaders demand.

Karimnagar: Has the government’s decision to make Sircilla a new district opened up the Pandora’s Box? It appears so as it revved up the demand for the creation of PV district with Huzurabad as its headquarters. Huzurabad is the home constituency of Finance Minister Etala Rajender.

The announcement of Sircilla district necessitated a few changes in the composition of Karimnagar. While conceding some mandals to Sircilla, existing Karimnagar district retained Huzurabad and Jammikunta. It may be mentioned here that Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Kamalapur and Elkaturthy mandals are originally listed in Hanamkonda district.

As per the new composition, three of the four mandals in Huzurabad constituency – Huzurabad, Jammikunta and Veenavanka – will remain in Karimnagar district. Ironically, the other mandal in the constituency Kamalapur, which is also the home town of Finance Minister Etala Rajender has been included in Hanamkonda district. With this, Etala will become a non-local in his own Huzurabad constituency. Sources close to Etala say that this is an unwanted situation for their leader.

Meanwhile, Husnabad MLA V Sathish Kumar is also facing a difficult situation as mandals in his constituency are divided in to three districts. While Husnabad and Koheda mandals are included in Siddipet district, Elkaturthy and Bheemadevarapally mandals are merged with Hanamkonda, leaving Chiguru Mamidi and Saidapur in Karimnagar.

Since the new districts’ issue came to fore, people in Husnabad and Koheda mandals are vehemently opposing their merger with Siddipet district. Now, the demand for PV district with Huzurabad as its headquarters gaining momentum, they wanted either to be part of PV district or remain in Karimnagar district. Meanwhile, it’s learnt that both Etala Rajender and V Sathish Kumar are in favour of PV district.

Against this backdrop, an All-party delegation along with a host of TRS leaders from Huzurabad and Husnabad constituencies met the High-Power Committee headed by K Kesava Rao (KK) in Hyderabad on Thursday and urged him to create a district named after former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, who belongs to the region.

Speaking to The Hans India, Huzurabad Agricultural Market Committee chairman A Kondal Reddy said: “KK responded positively to the demand of PV district and he assured to take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar also extended his support for the creation of PV District.”T-JAC leaders Avunuri Sammaiah, V Hanumanth Goud, DTF leader P Eshwar Reddy, Nandagiri Mahender Reddy (BJP), Ponaganti Sravan (CPM) and Muluguri Prabhakar (TRS) were among a host of others who met KK in Hyderabad.
