KTR showcases pro-biz policies of Telangana
The pro-industry policies of the Telangana government and its efforts to woo investments for the development of infrastructure projects in the State were highlighted by the Minister for IT, K T Rama Rao, here on Thursday at the Indian Economic Summit on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum meet.

Delivering a keynote address during a panel discussion on 'Accelerating Infrastructure Investments in India', he outlined the measures undertaken by the State government in this direction. Development and prosperity would not be achieved without infrastructure development, he said, adding that the quality addition to life was paramount to the progress.
However, in the light of fund crunch and add on problems, the government was seeking investments to reach its goals. Towards this end, it had evolved several policies for the ease of business and ushered in several changes in the industrial policy.
Rama Rao said while the existing national highways length was 1,800 km in Telangana, it was all set to double shortly with the help of the Centre. The power production target was kept at 24,000 megawatts from the existing 9,000 megawatts, out of which 10 per cent was to be non-conventional energy.
He sought green funds for development and advocated long-term policies rather than election-oriented five-year plans as a preferred path of development.
The Minister said his government was willing to adopt best practices in every field from any government without any reservations and that people never objected to any policy that was set to be a game changer.
In a second panel discussion on digital divide, he said Telangana would soon turn out to be a model State in bridging the gap between the digital and the non-digital rural and backward areas.
In all, two lakh people were extended digital education and the effort of the government was to make at least one person from each household digitally educated.
