A 13-year-old girl succumbed to death in Hyderabad last week after undergoing a fast of 68 days during the Jain holy period called Chaumasa. 

A 13-year-old girl succumbed to death in Hyderabad last week after undergoing a fast of 68 days during the Jain holy period called Chaumasa.

As per an NDTV report, the girl, Aradhana was even allowed to give up school so she could fast. It is learnt that the girl had earlier survived after taking up a fast of 41 days.

This time, the girl completed her 68 days fast but was admitted to a hospital two days later, where she died of cardiac arrest. Her funeral was attended by nearly 600 people where she was hailed as a 'bal tapasvi'.

Meanwhile, her grandfather, Manekchand Samdhariya stated that they had not hidden anything about her fast and everyone was aware of it.
