Bathukamma bash set to hit crescendo
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) along with Tourism department has made elaborate arrangements for \'Maha Bathukamma\' on Saturday.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) along with Tourism department has made elaborate arrangements for 'Maha Bathukamma' on Saturday. Around 15,000 women are expected to gather at LB Stadium from 5pm to 7pm. The Corporation alone has decided to mobilise 10,000 women from Self Help Groups to make the event a grand success.
A 20-feet long Bathukamma would be placed in the centre of the stadium, where the women will follow the Telangana Dhoom Dham artistes, who would perform on a special stage erected for the event. The Corporation officials said the civic body has made arrangements to accommodate 50,000 people to witness Maha Bathukamma. They said the officials from Limca book of records would register the event.
GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said the Corporation would provide buses to facilitate women to reach the venue and drop them back home. He said Bathukamma action teams and sanitation workers would ensure cleanliness on the stadium premises. He also said Corporation will arrange mobile toilets.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said in order to make the event extravagant, the Tourism department will hold food festival and arrange food stalls to give a taste of the Telangana cuisine. He said tight security arrangements were made at the venue to ensure safety of women.
