Warangal: The district Congress leaders have demanded the State government initiating immediate measures to pay compensation to the farmers, who lost crops due to recent torrential rains.The party district president N Rajender Reddy, the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari and others have inspected damaged crops on Friday at different places in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajender Reddy and Srihari said in the beginning of Kharif season the farmers suffered due to drought and later due to excessive rains. The government should to come to the rescue of distressed farmers.

The Congress leaders wanted Rs 25, 000 per acre compensation to be paid to paddy farmers while giving suitable compensation to crops like maize. They also wanted the government to release funds to fully waive the pending crop loans across the State.
