Nizamabad: Rangoli competitions were held at the Collectorate in the town on Friday under the aegis of the district cultural department in connection with the Bathukamma festival. District Collector Yogitha Rana exhorted the women to participate in the Bathukamma celebrations with great enthusiasm on Saturday. She said that she used to think about the Bathukamma even while she was at Jammu and Kashmir.

Around 170 women took part in Rangoli competitions drawing various designs of muggulu (rangoli) symbolising Telangana culture and traditions. Children also took part in large numbers. Participating in the competitions, Nizamabad Mayor Akula Sujatha lauded the efforts of the women who drew beautiful designs. Women should participate in the Bathukamma celebrations in large numbers showing the same level of interest, she added.
