Vemulghat celebrates Bathukamma

​Thoguta (Medak): Saddula Bathukamma was celebrated at a grand scale on Sunday at Vemulghat, one of the villages to be affected by Mallannasagar project.
The villagers, who have approached High Court seeking implementation of Land Acquisition Act 2013, have remained unfazed despite the pressure being put on them for the past several months.
It was 167th day of relay hunger strike against forceful land acquisition. Bathukammas festival was celebrated at every nook and corner of the village. The villagers carried Bathukammas to Nallacheruvu together and celebrated the festival.
People from all walks of life, cutting across caste lines, celebrated the festival. The fight against land acquisition united the people in the village.
