Nalgonda: Depressed over the last minute drop down of making Gattuppal village as mandal in Nalgonda district, an agitator made suicide attempt by setting himself ablaze in the village on Wednesday. He along with other villagers participated in a dharna on the road.A daily labourer, Erpula Yadaiah (35) poured kerosene on his body and set himself on fire. Other protestors shifted him to government hospital immediately. After primary treatment, he was shifted to Kamineni hospital at Narketpally for better treatment.

District Collector Gaurav Uppal and Superintendent of Police N Prakash Reddy visited the hospital and enquired the victim about the incident. Speaking on the occasion, Yadaiah said the officials have shifted furniture and other things for Gattuppal mandal office but its name was not in the final notification of districts reorganisation.

Victim’s mother, Sugunamma said that their family members were also participating in the protest demonstration near a bank in their village and suddenly his son made the suicide bid. Yadaiah didn’t allow hospital staff to shift him to Kamineni hospital but villagers convinced him. Chandoor police registered a case and investigation is on.
