Warangal Urban: Warangal Police Commissionerate has planned various programmes marking the ‘Police Martyrs Commemoration Week’, which begins on Saturday and concludes on October 21.The Police Commissioner, G Sudheer Babu called upon the public to actively take part in the programmes as it is responsibility of every citizen and police personnel to honour the sacrifices made by martyrs, who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Activities like blood donation camps, essay writing, elocution, drawing competitions for the students would be held in Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural and Jangaon districts that fall under the Commissionerate limits.On October 16, a 5K Run would be conducted. On October 20 ‘Atmeeya Sadassu’ would be held and on the same day a candle light rally would be taken out from Hanamkonda Chowrastha to the Martyrs Memorial on the Commissionerate premises during evening hours.

An ‘Open House’ at all police stations would be held as part of the commemoration week. For the citizens of tri-cities, Open House would be held at Town Hall in Public Gardens in Hanamkonda from 11 am to 8 pm. Stalls on weapons and other instruments being used by police, bomb disposal, finger prints, dog squad and others would be set up, the commissioner said. On October 21, a ‘Smruti Parade’ would be held at the Martyrs Memorial at the Commissionerate, Sudheer Babu said while appealing citizens from all walks of life to attend the programmes in large numbers and make it a success.
