Kamareddy: District Collector S Satyanarayana urged the engineers of Grid and those of the Roads & Buildings Department to take steps and ensure the completion of Mission Bhagiratha project on time without any delay as it was a prestigious project taken up by the State government. Participating in a review meeting with the engineers and other officials at the Collectorate in the town on Wednesday, he told the officers that Mission Bhagiratha must be taken up on a priority basis and the works relating to Phase-I, Phase-2 and Phase-3 should be completed urgently.

The District Collector said that the engineers of the respective departments should take all possible steps and ensure that the people living in the 129 villages falling under the Yellareddy, Kamareddy and SS Nagar mandals get water by the end of December this year. For this, works relating to the main Indra pipeline should be laid on a war-footing, he added. He said that prior permission to lay the pipelines should be obtained from the Forests, National Highways, Railways and other concerned departments wherever necessary.

Collector Satyanarayana directed the Mines and Geology Department officer to ensure that there was no scarcity of sand for Mission Bhagiratha works. Works should not be delayed on flimsy grounds, he added. He said that review meetings should be held every week on the progress of Mission Bhagiratha works. He directed the officials of the municipality department to take steps and ensure the completion of inter-connectivity works of the Kamareddy municipality by November 15.

The District Collector directed the officials of BMR and Navayuga to take steps to plant trees and saplings on both sides of the national highway extensively under the Haritha Haaram programme. He said that the pipeline that was laid between Jalalpur to Mallannaguda was damaged at several places leading to water leakage and the national highway department to take up the repair works immediately. Several officials and engineers of Rural Water Supply and Revenue Departments were present.
