Khammam: Four days after invoking Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two persons in connection with spurious seed trade, the Khammam police on Tuesday arrested two more persons under the same Act.In a statement, the Superintendent of Police Shahnawaz Qasim said that the III Town police have registered a case under PD Act against Jeeva Agri Genetic Chill Seeds Private Limited managing director Mothukuru Srinivas Krishna Kumar and the owner of Jeeva district distributor Laxmi Bhargavi Seeds Unnam Mohan Rao, and sent them to Central Prison in Warangal.
It may be noted here that several farmers have lodged complaints against Madanapalle-based Green Era and Jeeva Agri companies for supplying them with spurious seed that resulted in crop failure.
In this connection, the police already booked the managing director of Green Era Company Kondappagari Shiva and Ramachandra Seed Trading Company owner Vadlamudi Venkata Sagar under PD Act and sent them to Warangal jail on October 14.The SP cautioned the people that spurious seed traders will be dealt with iron hand.
