Warangal: Warangal Police Commissionerate will soon get a multi-storeyed swanky administrative building that also houses a hi-tech Command and Control Centre. The development comes in the wake of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s announcement in January this year.Apparently working to bridge the gap between the police and the people, the Warangal Police Commissionerate that started functioning from June 12, 2015 has come a long way introducing a host of initiatives aimed at citizen-friendly responsive policing.

The split of Warangal into five small districts, the command area of the Commissionerate has been extended incorporating three more districts – Warangal Urban, Rural and Janagaon – into its ambit. Although, it increases the workload of the Commissionerate, the move was aimed at providing proactive and responsible policing to people spread under the limits of 44 police stations. The Commissionerate is now divided into Central, East and West Zones, each headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

Against this backdrop, the Commissionerate, which is in dire need of an administrative building, will get a new edifice on the premises of the Police Headquarters.DGP Anurag Sharma unveiled a mock-up of the proposed new building for the Warangal Commissionerate, which was approved by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

It’s learnt that tenders for the construction of the buildings will called soon. The State government has already sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the establishment of the facility.Speaking to The Hans India, the Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said: “The building plan has been approved by the CM. Besides housing administrative set up, it will also have space for specialized wings in crime detection, CCTV monitoring room and Command and Control Centre.”
