Warangal: The Warangal Zoo, which is gaining recognition after the one in located in the State capital, is to receive two tigers and leopards each by Sankranti festival. Officials are getting special cages and enclosures to accommodate these animals, as part of efforts to develop the zoo. Already the zoo, located on the Hunter Road, has become a beehive of activity of various species and a large number of tourists going round its various enclosures. It has over 400 animals belonging to 40 varied categories, like birds, bears, crocodiles.

The zoo officials have secured green signal for shifting the animals from Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. Recently the officials from the Central Zoo, who visited the premises, expressed satisfaction over the progress. With new animals being brought in, it is expected to attract more visitors, Dr Punnam Chander of the FRI Vanyaprani wing, and a visitor Ramesh told The Hans India.The Warangal zoo is almost getting a face-lift on a daily basis. As a result people here are happy that it has become the second largest zoo in the State.
