Mahabubabad: People-friendly policing with modern practices will be the strength of police in the newly-formed Mahabubabad district, said District Superintendent of Police J Muralidhar.It was proposed to launch a police force called `Blue Colts’ which would be available round-the-clock and reach instantly to the spots wherever troubles like clashes, road accidents and traffic snarls takes place, the SP said.
He explained that the Blue Colts teams riding on two-wheelers will focus on incidents like eve teasing, chain snatching, and violence against women.
In order to ensure effective monitoring of law and order situation, efforts will be made to install a network of closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) covering key junctions in Mahabubabad, Muralidhar revealed in an interaction with The Hans India.
Similarly, steps will be taken to have smooth flow of traffic in the town by setting up required number of traffic police wings. Since the district was newly formed, the full-scale staff was yet to arrive and efforts were on to manage the things with available personnel, the SP said.Referring to Maoist-affected villages in Kothaguda, Gangaram and Bayyaram on Kothagudem and Mahabubabad districts borders, the SP said the Intelligence units of State and Central police will ensure continuous monitoring of the situation and curtail possible movements of Naxals.
The SP said that stern action will be initiated against anti-social elements engaged in matka, gambling and those involved in brewing illicit liquor. On the increasing number of illegal land encroachments and land disputes at the district headquarters, he said the police will act within legal limits as they fall under civil disputes category. “Without proper enquiry none will be arrested,” he added.“I am happy for being appointed as the first Superintendent of Police for Mahabubabad district. I have knowledge of the terrain and issues here,” Muralidhar said.
