Kowdipally (Medak): Katroth Jamuna (55) sells custard apples on Medak-Narsapur road. She lives by the side of the road in a house roofed with tiles, supported with wooden planks and mud walls. Due to the heavy rains in September, the entire roof of her house collapsed. Four of her goats also died during the rains.

According to official estimates, 10,895 houses have been damaged in the integrated Medak district, out of which 418 houses were found to have been completely damaged. According to Jamuna, no official had taken stock of her house damage and till date she had not received any help from the establishment for renovation of her damaged roof.

Not just Jamuna, there are hundreds like her in Medak, Siddipet and Sangareddy districts, who have not been compensated for their damaged houses yet. Winter is just round the corner and the most worried of all are people like Jamuna, who fear the winter chills could make their lives miserable if their houses are not renovated immediately.
