Hyderabad: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on Thursday felt that there must be a greater debate within the community on ‘triple talaq’ before the Central government jumps to some kind of conclusion.

Responding to a question at a press conference which was attended by representatives of Sikh and Christian community on Thursday, JIH’s State president and former Telangana JAC member Moulana Hamed Mohammed Khan felt that the government should provide a chance for the community to debate over the issue.

Agreeing with the view of RSS that the issue was “internal matter,” which should be pondered over, he said the JIH was against any kind of “heretical doctrine.” “We stand against any kind of ‘bidat,’ which is against saying of Quran. We feel that a greater debate within the community would surely resolve the problem,” he said.

Muslim Personal Board’s Member of Shariah Committee Talha Jabeen felt that Muslim women were provided equal opportunity to decide the fate of their marriage. “While men opt for Talat, women can seek Qula in case of serious differences.”

However, she said before breaking up, both should approach religious head for guidance. Speaking on the Uniform Civil Code, Fr Alex Raju of St Joseph Cathedral in Abids felt the issue to be of political nature, as there were sections within the Minority Communities, who craved for justice, since Independence.
