Hyderabad: The State government has not yet decided whether or not to challenge the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict in the court.

Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, which met here on Saturday for the second time to discuss the legal implications of challenging the issue in court, deferred the decision on Saturday. A decision on whether to approach the courts would be taken at the next meeting scheduled to be held in the first week of November.

Sub-Committee members consisting - Panchayat Raj Minister J Krishna Rao, Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, felt that the water sharing issue was sensitive and the State interests would be at stake if the government challenged the verdict in the court without seeking a strong legal opinion.

The Sub-Committee also discussed the impact of the tribunal verdict which made it clear that re-allocation of Krishna waters from the allocation made to the United Andhra Pradesh only would be done between Telangana and AP.

Telangana has been demanding that the tribunal make fresh allocation of water between the four States of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
