Hyderabad: TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has reminded that Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi had made relentless efforts to see that fruits of the freedom reached the backward classes and weaker sections in the country. Paying floral tributes at Indira Gandhi statue on the Necklace Road here on Monday on the occasion of her death anniversary, Uttam Kumar recalled that some anti-national elements had killed her.

Indira Gandhi was one of the world leaders, who laid down her life for national integration. Later, Uttam paid tributes to portraits of Indira Gandhi and former Union Home Minister Sardar Vallabhai Patel at Gandhi Bhavan on the occasion of Indira’s death anniversary and Patel’s birth anniversary respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam recalled that Indira Gandhi ruled the nation in such a way that fruits of the freedom reached all sections of the people. Indira Gandhi had the distinction of ushering in ‘Green Revolution’ in the country, he said. Recalling services of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the PCC chief said Patel played a key role in merging the Nizam State into the Indian Union.
