Nagarkurnool: CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram demanded that the State government develop villages and rural people first and ease of doing business should come next.

He was addressing a public meeting at the MPDO office here on Tuesday in connection with the CPM’s Mahajana Padayatra, which commenced at Ibrahimpatnam on October 17, reaching here.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s rule, Tammineni said what was required was ‘Batuku Telangana’ not ‘Bangaru Telangana.’

Referring to the government spending money on yagnas, pujas and pushkarams, he demanded that it give funds to finance the poor students’ education.

He said he had visited 80 villages so far during the padayatra. “People are submitting representations seeking homes, lands, pensions, compensation for the lands acquired and so on,” he said.

Besides education to the poor students, Veerabhadram wanted that the government exercise control over the private educational institutions. He pointed out that the government had been destroying government hospitals.

On livelihood to people of the state, Veerabhadram said the CPM had prepared an action plan linking agriculture with the industry.

Referring to promises doled out by Chandrashekar Rao, he pointed that there was no trace of giving three acres of land to the poor.

The padayatra will be concluded on March 12. Later, the CPM will submit a report on problems it came across during the padayatra to the government and ask it to resolve them. “If the government fails to resolve them, the CPM will wage a war with the government,” Veerabhadram said.

Speaking on the occasion, Congress MLC K Damodar Reddy said the Congress was supporting the padayatra. He criticized the KCR administration and wanted the government to strive for Telangana with social justice.

He termed the government not responding on tuition fee reimbursement as painful and lamented that it was playing with the lives of students.
