No entry at Telangana Secretariat as Maoists call for bandh
No visitors will be allowed into the Telangana state Secretariat on Thursday in wake of the high alert issued by the security agencies following bandh call given by Maoists in five states in protest against killing of 31 Maoists on the Andhra-Odisha border on October 24. Besides the two Telugu states, the bandh will be observed in the naxalite-infested states of Odisha, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh
​Hyderabad: No visitors will be allowed into the Telangana state Secretariat on Thursday in wake of the high alert issued by the security agencies following bandh call given by Maoists in five states in protest against killing of 31 Maoists on the Andhra-Odisha border on October 24. Besides the two Telugu states, the bandh will be observed in the naxalite-infested states of Odisha, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh.
The Telangana and AP police forces have taken up unprecedented security measures in both the states. The police have asked the general administration department of Telangana secretariat to see that no permissions were given to any visitor.
The security agencies have also issued advisory to two Chief Ministers, K Chandrasekhara Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, and ministers and legislators not to venture into remote places.
The Telangana police have initiated extra security measures in the naxalite-infested places like Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtiyal, Peddapally, Karimnagar, Kothagudem and Khammam.
Apart from increasing patrolling in the areas, the police have also erected check posts at important junctions and points and stepped up search operations of all vehicles.
