​Hyderabad: The Telangana State government is all set to clinch a record in Asia by constructing the prestigious Kaleshwaram project in one year. The project is set to be completed on time to give waters by December 2017 as per a plan.

This was stated by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao here at a review meeting held at Jala Soudha attended by top officials and experts. The Minister set a deadline of one year for completion of the project and release waters for crops in December next year.

Stating that the project was a challenge and the officials should step up efforts to complete land acquisition on priority basis to make true the dream of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Minister informed that the irrigation works would be video recorded by connecting Jala Saudha and Kaleshwaram project and putting them online.

He said that there was no dearth of funds and the works should be expedited. The officials were instructed to call tenders for Mallannasagar project and a special meeting would be called on November 10.

Stating that the State government departments and executing agencies should coordinate with each other to complete the project with a focus on land acquisition, he reiterated that the State government was committed to achieve its goal of irrigating one crore acres over five years and would complete the projects by spending adequate funds.a
