Hyderabad: The Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) on Friday passed a resolution unanimously suspending Dr Chandra Bhushan, orthopedic surgeon,

Global Hospital Hyderabad, for a period of two years for ethical infringement for performing height increasing surgery on twenty-three-year-old Nikhil Reddy on April 5 and since then he has been bed-ridden.

Nikhil's father Goverdhan Reddy said that the ban of two years was not good enough. Criminal charges should be filed against Dr Chandra Bhushan and he should be banned for life.

This apart, TSMC also suspended several medical practitioners for unethical practices in an executive and general body meeting held at Hyderabad under the chairmanship of Dr E Ravindra Reddy. The TSMC passed resolutions unanimously.

Dr Namratha of Srushti Test Tube Centre, KPHB, Hyderabad, was suspended for a period of five years and banned from practice of surrogacy for lifelong hereafter.

Dr Rahul Carter of Serinity Foundation, Secunderabad, Dr Hari Kumar Ravva of Mind Crest Hospital of Psychiatry and Rehabilitation, Malakpet and Dr Minaj Zafar Nasirabadi of Samantha Rehabilitation Centre weres suspended for a period of six months each for unethical psychiatric practices.

Dr T Manoj Kumar of Jagtial, Karimnagar, was suspended for three months for performing indiscriminate appendicectomy surgeries in Kathalpur mandal, Karimnagar. In the same case seven more doctors were warned for unethical practices.

Dr Krishna Kanth Reddy was suspended for non-compliance of TSMC orders of displaying MBBS equivalent degree till such a period he complies with.
