Bhupalpalli: Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy has tore into the TRS government accusing it of neglecting the farmers’ interests while serving the contractors.

The government, which spent nearly Rs 6 lakh crores since it came to power, has failed to waive off the crop loans for which Rs 15,000 crores were needed. The government has diverted Rs 800 crore input subsidy released by the Centre to pay the bills of Andhra contractors, who were being patronised by the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, he criticised.

Due to the negligent attitude of the TRS government, nearly 2,700 farmers have committed suicide since the formation of Telangana State and not even 400 farmers were given the compensation. The government has also failed to bring in a comprehensive agricultural policy, he alleged.

Revanth Reddy along with the district leaders Seetakka, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Vem Narender Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao and others has launched ‘Rythu Poruyatra’ in support of farmers’ issues at Veshalapalli village in the district on Sunday.

During the padayatra, he interacted with farmers who shared their plight with TDP leaders and submitted memorandums. After covering a distance of 15 kilometres, the padayatra reached Bhupalpalli town where a public meeting was held.

Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy said KCR was spending crores of rupees to buy white coloured cars since he doesn’t like black coloured vehicles and to demolish the State secretariat on the pretext of Vastu.

But he was not keen to look into the plight of farmers, who were in distress due to debt burden and vagaries of nature. ‘KCR said the new Telangana State would bring happiness to all people yet the farmers suicides were still continuing,’ he pointed out.

During separate Telangana movement, the TRS leaders and KCR’s family members were used to rush to visit the families whenever a farmer or a youth commits suicide just to gain political mileage. None of the TRS leaders were found now when a farmer ends his life, Revanth Reddy lamented.

Only the CM and his family members were enjoying the fruits of separate Telangana and none in the society has benefitted have it. The CM should explain the details of expenditure made so far in the State, Revanth Reddy demanded.

The government has also failed to act against spurious seed companies and distributors. The CM, who promised to abolish open cast mining, was permitting to open new cast mines at the cost of the villagers.
